Impact Investing
Activate Capital is a member of the Irish Green Building Council and a United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Investment (“UNPRI”) signatory.
Founded in 2015 to address the societal challenge of a housing supply shortage, we believe in prudent capital stewardship and in delivering positive impact from our capital deployment activities. That is why Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) factors are integral components of our decision-making process. The creation of shared value amongst all stakeholders in the development cycle is a realistic objective, delivering positive outcomes for new communities, our customers and our investors, while simultaneously protecting the environment.
Our ESG Strategy, Impact Investing – Enabling Sustainable Communities is anchored in directing funds to the delivery of high quality, energy efficient, affordable homes in inclusive community settings. With the support of our capital, our customers continue to deliver large numbers of sustainable houses and apartments to the private sale and the social and affordable sectors.
Robert Gallagher, Activate Capital CEO
We finance developments that promote efficient land use, benefit from strong transport connectivity and are delivered to Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) standards, thus low in energy consumption and cost effective for the homeowner.
We generate positive social impact and inclusive communities by supporting residential delivery across all housing types and tenures. Since inception, we have unlocked the delivery of 18,250 housing units, with 85% of units eligible for the Irish Government’s Help to Buy Scheme (HTB). Additionally, Activate Capital works directly with State Agencies to deliver social and affordable housing.
We are committed to investing in and evolving our ESG Strategy, which is anchored in Knowledge Building, Project Assessment, as well as ongoing Monitoring and Reporting. At the firm level, Activate undertakes a number of initiatives, including increased investment in wellness facilities to promote active travel to work, as well supporting charities that focus on addressing homelessness.
